Like Father, Like Son.
This may be your story, but it doesn\'t have to be your destiny.
In over a decade of working closely with men through the Catalyst Men Network International, I have seen the same tragic song play on repeat. A father died without a legacy; now his son battles with poverty. A father abandoned his marriage for a concubine; now a side chick threats his son’s marriage. A father battled anger; the son carries murderous rage. A father sowed seeds of infidelity; now the housemaid is carrying his son\'s child.
Like father, like son.
The Bible says, \"The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children\'s teeth are set on edge.\" (Ezekiel 18:2)
Like father, like son.
Why do men repeat the choices their fathers made? Why do patterns persist even when Christ has redeemed us? Hear me: events happen twice in the Bible; once in the natural, once in the spiritual. In the Bible, you’ll see it over and over again: sons walking the broken paths of their fathers.
Like father, like son.
Abraham lied. Isaac lied more. Jacob lied better.
Abraham lied about Sarah (Genesis 12:10-20).
Isaac lied about Rebekah (Genesis 26:6-7).
Isaac Tricked by Jacob. His own sons tricked Jacob.
Three generations. One pattern. Same fruit, deeper roots.
Like father, like son.
The story of David is a another level entirely.
David fell. Amnon fell harder. Absalom fell furthest and hardest.
David commits adultery and murder (2 Samuel 11).
His son, Amnon rapes his half-sister Tamar (2 Samuel 13).
Absalom commits murder and upscale to a rebel (2 Samuel 15).
Like father, like sons.
And what about Eli? Weak father, perverted sons. The sons\' misbehaviors cost their father’s life. Like Eli sons, like Samuel’s sons.
Like father, like sons.
Patterns don’t die because you ignore them.
Patterns changes when you confront them.
The good news? There is a Pattern Breaker. His name is Jesus Christ.
Where Adam fell, Jesus stood.
Where the first man bowed to sin, the Last Man triumphed over it.
Jesus never repeated Adam’s mistakes.
Like Jesus, like you.
Sir, it may not have begun with you, but it can end with you. You don’t have to carry your father’s battles in your destiny. You don’t have to live the pattern you didn’t start.
Are there patterns you see in your life and you desire to break?
Break the cycle.
Break the silence.
Break the chain.
Connect with the Pattern Breaker today. His name is Jesus Christ.
Like Father, like Son, until you choose a better Father, the chains remain.
Like Jesus, like you? or am I missing something? Shakes or nods, break the pattern that your son will not repeat your father\'s story
Can we pray together?
Today, I break the cycle.
I am not my past, I am not my father’s failure.
I am a son of God, blood-washed, Spirit-filled, and destiny-aligned.
The lies stop with me. The anger stops with me.
The lust stops with me. The fear stops with me.
I will walk in truth. I will walk in power.
I will build a new legacy.
My sons will not suffer what I suffered.
My daughters will not cry the tears my mother cried.
From this day, I declare:
Like Father, Like Son, I’m made after my Heavenly Father.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
