Win Big in Sports Betting through PPP

Win Big in Sports Betting through PPP

PowerShift Devotional for Men| Dayo Adeyemi

Scripture
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5 (ESV)

I have a formula for you to damage poverty.

A man once sold his house to bet on his team at a particular football finals. History, pundits, stats and all odds favored his team to win. His club has never lost a match in the last ten games they met the other team. This is a sure banker. He even bought a cow to celebrate his potential payout. The game ran till 90 minutes with the predicted team having 65% possession and more than eight attempts at goals. At extra time, the underdog team slotted in a one zero win. The stadium was grave silent. No one ever thought the pundits will be wrong.

I met a man in church who has a betting slip printout in his hands during Sunday service. He was fiddling with it throughout the service. True life story. I spoke with him.

Sports betting is fun. The idea of turning a 100 into 50,000 in one bet is enticing and exciting. Just one right permutation can be a big win. Sport betting appears so easy to win especially when the history, the stats, the pundits and the predictions show this is a good odd.  Betting looks sweet because you enjoy the match and has a chance to win cash. True fans are die-hards. Even if you lose a game, your club can win the next match. And next match gives you the next hope. So you stake again for the next possible win. After all, betting is a game of luck and you are convinced that you’re “just trying your luck.” The truth is betting places your wealth on luck not on planning.

Sports betting sells hope. It packages desperation as opportunity. And makes lie sounds like the truth. “It’s just small money.”  “I just need one big win to stop.” “Other people are doing it and cashing out.” “Someone, I know even won last time.” Fantasy.

Many men won’t even accept that sports betting is another damaging habit to stay broke. It starts as fun. Before long, it becomes a regret. The hustle for quick cash becomes an addiction. Some men spiral into debt. A man bets with his annual rent. He lost. A student in a university bets with his entire school fees. He lost. Some borrow or steal to bet. They lost. A few even commit crime to bet.

Most men don’t bet because they’re greedy. They bet because they’re desperate.

Under pressure to provide, impress, or escape, betting becomes a short cut to solve a long time problem. Betting don’t solve poverty problem. Many who win huge jackpots end up being poorer. Fact check me.

Betting creates win once, lose more. You may hit luck once but most times, you lose more than you win. In fact, you can’t control the system’s backend algorithms which are designed to keep you playing and losing. Remember, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

Gambling thrives in silence as adultery thrives in secrecy. The man I met in the church was praying for forgiveness because he bet his four children’s school fees on Arsenal to win an away match and they lost. But he finds it difficult to share with me after service. Most men share success but mourn losses quietly. You are alone when you lost.

Behind the scenes, sport betting companies advertise intentionally especially during matches to keep men hooked. Celebrities and sports stars flash slips to promote betting apps. They promise easy win. The Catalyst Wisemen Council affirms that regular exposure to betting increases the risk of poverty lifestyle.

Here’s the hard truth: Sports betting is a poverty generator. It’s the devil in a designer suit. Sports betting Perpetuate Poverty Permanently. You need a winning formula. It is called PPP. Purpose. Practice and Persistence. You can’t lose out on PPP. Every time you choose purpose, practice, and persistence in a legit hustle, you are creating a sustainable path to lasting wealth.
However, if you are addicted to betting, there is hope. Recovery begins with the courage to admit there is a problem. It takes courage to limit your exposure to triggers or block betting apps, and join a man’s group. The steps to healing resides in the company you keep.
